A zine is a small, often self-published “mini magazine” or booklet. They are historically known for being punchy experimental graphic interpretations of a variety of social or artistic topics. For my own zine, I decided to explore the spectrum of opinions surrounding the idea of the Sublime within the historical context of graphic design. On the fringe of opposing modern and postmodern strategies, what truly makes graphic design sublime? This zine shares some of my own thoughts, as well as insights from notable designers such as Katherine McCoy, Herb Lubalin, and Michael Bierut. With such a wide variety of content, my biggest challenge was to create type, image, and visual continuity.
